Wedding Website Wording — Ready-Made Copy for Every Section

You know what needs to go on your wedding website. The venue, the date, the dress code, the RSVP form. What's harder than knowing is actually writing it — because somehow, sitting down to type one paragraph about parking turns into 40 minutes of staring at a blank page.

This article skips that part. Below is ready-to-use wording for every main section, in a few different tones. Copy what fits, edit in your details, and move on.

About us / welcome section

This doesn't need to be long. A few sentences that make the website feel like it was made by two real people rather than a logistics department. Guests do read it — and they notice when it's warm.

Short and warm:

We're Emma and James, and we've been making each other laugh since we met at a friend's birthday party in Edinburgh in 2020. On 12th July 2026 we're getting married — and we're so glad you'll be there.

A little more personal:

Sophie and Tom. We met at work, which we're both still slightly embarrassed about. Four years, one rescue dog, and a proposal at the top of Snowdon later — we're finally doing it. Thank you for being part of our day.

Light-hearted:

Lily and Matt. Friends for years, accidentally fell in love, and haven't quite recovered since. We figured the only sensible response was a wedding. We're delighted you're joining us.

Dress code

Every guest wonders about this. Include it even if you think it's obvious, because it isn't obvious until you've said it.

Black tie:

We're going all out — black tie, please. Tuxedos and floor-length gowns very much welcome. It's that kind of evening, and we'd love for everyone to dress the part.

Lounge suit / formal:

Lounge suits and formal dresses, please. It's a celebration, and we'd love everyone to feel dressed for one.

Smart casual (garden party, afternoon wedding):

Smart casual is the aim — summer dresses, linen suits, garden party chic. One practical note: the ceremony is on the lawn, so stilettos on grass may need a plan B before the evening's out.

Relaxed / no strict dress code:

No strict dress code — wear whatever makes you feel good and celebratory. If you want a steer: think smart rather than casual. And one gentle request: please leave the white at home.

Getting there — travel and directions

This section prevents more last-minute phone calls than any other. The more specific you are, the quieter your phone will be in the week before the wedding.

Driving — easy venue:

[Venue name] is at [full address]. There's free parking on site — enter from [street name]. The car park has room for [X] cars and doesn't require a permit.

Driving — limited parking:

Parking at the venue is limited to around [X] spaces. We'd recommend carpooling where possible. The nearest public car park is [name or address], about [X] minutes' walk away.

Train and public transport:

The nearest station is [station name], about [X] minutes from [city] on the [line]. From the station, it's a [X]-minute taxi ride or a [X]-minute walk to the venue.

Taxis and rideshare:

Taxis and Ubers are easy to find at [station name]. If you're planning to leave later in the evening, we'd suggest booking in advance — it can get busy around midnight in the area.

Remote or countryside venue:

The venue is in the countryside and isn't easily reached by public transport. If you're not driving, we'd suggest booking a taxi or rideshare from [nearest town] in advance — it's about [X] minutes and roughly [£X] each way.

With a wedding coach:

We're running a coach from [meeting point] departing at [time], and returning at the end of the evening around [time]. If you'd like a seat, please tick the box in your RSVP by [date].

Accommodation

You don't need to have organised group rates to write a useful accommodation section — just point guests in the right direction so nobody's searching at midnight.

Simple recommendations:

If you're staying overnight, we'd suggest [Hotel 1] (from around £[X]/night, [X] minutes from the venue) or [Hotel 2] (from around £[X]/night, [X] minutes). There are also B&Bs and self-catering cottages in [nearest village or town].

Accommodation on-site:

The venue has [X] bedrooms available for wedding guests at £[X]/night. To reserve a room, contact [name or email] by [date] — they go quickly.

For guests staying nearby, we'd recommend [hotel or B&B name] in [town], about [X] miles from the venue.

With a return shuttle:

We're running a shuttle between the venue and [hotel or town] at the end of the evening — around [time]. If you'd like to use it, please tick the relevant box in your RSVP.

RSVP section wording

Don't bury the deadline in the middle of a paragraph. Make it impossible to miss.

Formal:

Kindly RSVP by [date] using the form below. If you have any dietary requirements or allergies, please include them — we'll pass everything on to the caterer.

Relaxed:

Let us know whether you'll be joining us by [date] using the link below. It takes about two minutes. If you have any dietary needs, there's a field for that too.

Deadline callout (underneath the RSVP button):

RSVP deadline: [date]. After that, we'll be finalising numbers with the venue and caterer — so please do confirm before then.

Gift list

Leave this clearly answered so nobody has to guess or feel awkward asking.

With a gift registry:

We've put together a small wish list for anyone who'd like to give a gift — you can find it here: [link]. There's absolutely no obligation, but if you'd like a starting point, it's there.

Cash gift / honeymoon fund:

Honestly, the best gift you can give us is being there. If you'd like to give something more, a contribution to our honeymoon fund would mean a lot — but truly, no pressure at all.

No gifts, please:

We genuinely don't want gifts. Your presence is everything we need. If you'd really like to mark the occasion, a donation to [charity name] in lieu of a gift would make us very happy.

FAQ examples — questions and answers to copy

Start with the questions you've already been asked, then add the ones you know are coming.

Can we bring children?

Children welcome:

Children are absolutely welcome — we love the little ones! If you're bringing kids, please note it in your RSVP and we'll make sure they're looked after.

Adults-only:

We've chosen to have an adults-only reception. We know this may need some planning on your end — please get in touch if it changes anything for you and we'll do our best to help.

Are there vegetarian or vegan options?

Yes — the menu includes vegetarian and vegan options at every course. If you have other dietary needs or allergies, please add them to your RSVP.

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes, free parking on site for all guests. [Or: Parking is limited — see the Getting There section for alternatives nearby.]

Can we take photos during the ceremony?

We're having an unplugged ceremony — please keep phones and cameras away during the service itself. Our photographer will capture everything. Once we're outside, the cameras can come out.

Where should we sit at the ceremony?

No assigned sides — please sit wherever you like. We'd love both sides of the aisle to fill up evenly.

What time should we arrive?

For ceremony guests, please aim to arrive by [time], as we'll be starting promptly at [time]. For evening guests, doors open at [time].

Is there a late bar?

The bar runs until [time]. The venue closes at [time], so we'll be making the most of every minute before then.

Will there be an evening buffet?

Yes — there will be [evening food] served around [time] for evening guests. [Or: Evening food isn't included, but there will be a cake cutting and refreshments.]

FAQ

How much copy is too much? If a section needs more than three short paragraphs to explain, it probably needs to be simplified rather than extended. Most guests visit on mobile, often quickly. Short, scannable copy wins.

Should the tone match the formality of the wedding? Roughly, yes — a formal evening reception might call for warmer, more considered wording, while a relaxed outdoor afternoon can be chattier. But don't be so formal that the website feels cold. Guests should feel welcomed, not processed.

Can we add sections as we finalise details? Absolutely. Start with the essentials — date, venue, RSVP — and fill in the rest as things are confirmed. A website with five complete sections is more useful than one with eight half-finished ones.

What if plans change after we've published? Just edit the relevant section and let guests know via WhatsApp or email that the website's been updated. The link stays the same, so there's nothing else to resend.
